KAM's Challenge

Postby KAMics » Sat Aug 26, 2006 9:28 am

Well, it looked like so much fun when others did it, I thought I'd try it myself.

Anyway, starting Monday, August 28, and running through the current storyline I will be having cameos & references and you get to guess them! :D

Some will be easy, some hard & some won't be webcomics at all.

I will confirm, deny and/or reveal them a week after each comic goes up. 8)

Have fun! :P

Hmm... the only lead I can recognize here is that the gate leads to Cross Time Cafe! 8)

On second thought, why wait a week to confirm or deny?

Yep, Cross Time Cafe & Atland are correct.

Admittedly in this strip it's the non-webcomic refs that are hard to guess, although Wednesday & Friday's should be harder.

Missed opportunity. After it was too late to add anymore names I realized that I should have had Cortland up there. D'oh!

Lets see...

If I'm not mistaken, in the 2nd panel its the three battle ships from The Lost Battle Fortress, incidently named Nikki the Red, Gertrude & Brunhilda!

Marsmellow Kitty treats can only have been made of the Marsmellow Kitty from Girly!

And the whole setup in the 2nd panel looks like something straight out of a Dr. Strange comic...

Actually the girl is named Brunhilda, the ship is named Brunhilde.
Not sure if that was a choice or a typo on Kennatsu's part.

Yes. All part of my sinister plot to turn my webcomic competition into food so I'll be the only one left. Muhahahahahahahahha!!!

Love the classic Lee/Ditko Dr. Strange stories.

It's actual name is the "Brunhilde", which is what was on my mind when I named the ship, but you know which KAM valkyrie I'm talking about.

BTW, they're color coded for a reason; they only way to identify which one is which when you can't read their letters is the hair color of the Valkyries. :)

2 correct guesses at my website, but none here? :?

Ah, well. Yes Stewart from Magical Misfits, & the Magiversity (or a branch thereof) both appear in the September 1st comic.

Tote Board

August 30 - 2 out of 3

Hey, I can't be everywhere (and I'll let you know just why very soon...)... however, I didn't get more than those two, even if I know there are at least two more I should have recognized... :?

Okay folks, anyone in for a shot at the right ones?

The bald guy at the lower left is John from Out There. Dunno about the remaining 3 bystanders/flyers.

Tropylium's correct about John & Wheels is correct about Pawn

I considered putting Star on Stewart's back, but I was running out of time.

September 1 - 4 out of 7

September 4 - 1 out of 14

---

Well, all the webcomics were guessed for last Monday's comic, but here's the other refs, if you were wondering.
Semi-Mystical Otherwordly Gate has the initials S.M.O.G which was a running gag at Dungeon, Dragon, Demon, Damsel & Smith an S&S humor board.

JARSO was James & Rachgd's Soap Opera a soap opera/superhero story.

SF Land refers to The Tough Guide To SF Land

Bizarro World is a reference to the square world of the Bizarros' from Superman.

Oookay, now we are getting somewhere!

... and since the first strip is now fully confirmed, I'll add it to the Archive!

Now, lets see what we can find in this strip...

"Now with no angry monkeys" could be a reference to Angry D. Monkey

The Poultry Arisen serves ...order on a stick

The hottie wanted somehow looks like Monica from Wapsi Square, and bob_81 of MIKYAGU has already identified himself with the owl...

The buyer at the LSB Show in the robe could be Castor from Dungeon Crawl Inc., and I'm not quite sure if the man with the hat to the right is Ozoneocean, the cartoonist of Pinky TA

There's bound to countless more references in this strips, and KAM can consider himself lucky for the fact that he is right now is crusing the universe in his one-room apartment with pet, because when I get my hands on him...

Hogan wrote:"Now with no angry monkeys" could be a reference to Angry D. Monkey

Yep.

Hogan wrote:The Poultry Arisen serves ...order on a stick

Order Of The Stick, not On A Stick (yeah, the text is tiny, but I typed it correctly).

Hogan wrote:The hottie wanted somehow looks like Monica from Wapsi Square, and bob_81 of MIKYAGU has already identified himself with the owl...

Somehow looks? I thought it was a pretty good likeness. Anyway you mentioned expecting to see Monica in Valkyrie wear, so... (guess we know who put up that poster. )
Yeah, that picture was based on bobo 81's old avatar image. (If I realized he'd changed it I would have added his name to it.)

Hogan wrote:The buyer at the LSB Show in the robe could be Castor from Dungeon Crawl Inc., and I'm not quite sure if the man with the hat to the right is Ozoneocean, the cartoonist of Pinky TA

Correct on both counts.

Revised Total
September 4 - 7 out of 14
