liking the light house too. my charictors are gonna be chasing something called the black pearl when they hit the castle six hundred years earlier. it will be roughly 8 inches in diameter, causes things to disapear, and can produce extreme amounts of energy. considering ghost himself, when stripped down, fits that discription, you can see his intrest in it.
may all your hauntings be full apparition- jim

yeah, i can see that connection. I really havent decided on the time Alex and Aden will appear. could be possible that they bump into each other, unless you would rather do our official crossover we planned sooner or laterghostrunner wrote:liking the light house too. my charictors are gonna be chasing something called the black pearl when they hit the castle six hundred years earlier. it will be roughly 8 inches in diameter, causes things to disapear, and can produce extreme amounts of energy. considering ghost himself, when stripped down, fits that discription, you can see his intrest in it.

hmmm. good question. the ghost of that time period is gonna be the stripped down model. any weapons he has to carry inside him because the underarm tesseracts wont be invented for another century. the guns wont be the high powered polished models. he's somewhat of a robotic mindset because the hybridization process. he isnt even going to have the human mimicry down when he crosses over. i'm chewing over how much crossing over he's gonna be able to do.

How would you put part of a castle on a floating rock?Tinkerbell wrote:I think I prefer the lighthouse not having any kind of point; the more random the better, right?
I'm not saying don't have parts of the castle on floating rocks, just not all of it.

well, ghost, if hes not the Ial that I know and love then i can't do much with him. however they could bump into each other in passing as such have basic memories of each other for what we have planned. Nogte: since time is different on Xade then Alex will remember Ial much easier than Ial will remember him.
Example: 5 years passed for Dark Eyes while only a couple days passed for Alexis (her journey took 2 days outside the portal in case anyone wants to cameo them still) Alexis, knowing this little quirk of Xade accepted her older friend without question, and the only thing she said about it was to Robert's excited statement.
Naturally, Alex won't know until Aden tells him about it when next Ial and Alex meet.

One example: castle is next to some sort of chasm in which there is a floating rock with a tower or two on it, which is connected to the castle by some sort of bridge.littlebeast wrote: How would you put part of a castle on a floating rock?
Alternatively, put the floating rock high up among the castle's towers, with a tower built on it and a bridge etc. etc. etc.
Actually, I don't have an objection to the whole castle being built across several floating rocks, it's just that if it's all on the same rock you get this bizarre sort of pear-shaped visual effect which just prevents the castle appearing sprawling in the way I think we're going for... if that makes any sense

IK have a castle creation kit, and many rocks in my run time so it's not as bad as you think, and some buildings that can pass for the rest of what you have so far, of course i dont have to show the entire outside...littlebeast wrote:No, it does. I getcha.
And doing it across several rocks allows it to be sprawling vertically, too!
Also, I pity those of us who are going to have to make this in 3-d....

I think if I continue to draw at this scale, I'll need to tape together six or so papers, given that the entrance bridge takes up about half a page.... Maybe I should work on that....
By the way, anyone have any idea whose comic(s) this is canonically going to be set in? i.e. which one(s) is(/are)n't traveling between dimensions or some such.

Well, we've had 5 pages of talk about discussion, but we still haven't settled on a basic design for the castle. I'm going to go ahead and back littlebeast's design, as it comes closest to what I thought the castle would look like based on the initial description. Except it would be in the mountains and not on a floating rock.
I think we should stick with the mountains setting. That was in the first post. If you are DEAD SET on having a floating castle, you could have a small part of the castle break off and start floating. For example the dormitory tower starts flying around.
Also, this is a reminder that although lot's of people are posting their own threads about their characters, we need to have people showing interest in other people's threads and setting up specifics!

Well, at least notionally, there's no dimensional jump for my characters (though given their record, if it becomes necessary, they can just have failed to notice it - again)littlebeast wrote: By the way, anyone have any idea whose comic(s) this is canonically going to be set in? i.e. which one(s) is(/are)n't traveling between dimensions or some such.

well, I already have mine all set up, if you like I can post pictures of all angles its a hodgepodge of all my castles in my runtime. I cant render it all with more than one character; I have to delete what isnt visible, thats how much is in it. And I made a wooden sign that says Castle Overlook, although Alex can't read it in his dreams.
Hmm, could set it in mine. My comicverse is weird enough and ties into reality slightly. Scurk and I decided to merge our universes. The Tarrons, who almost wiped out Xade's population were applicants to the Irken Empire but their need for a new world was so great that they couldnt wait and paid a terrible price.

Re: The setting of Castle Overlook
As already asked in another thread... has anyone called dibs on giving an impression of Alfred Doletti the other artists can use for a refefence?
If anyone already have something set up, this may be the time to post it so we won't end up with 14 different Alfred's
