I am going to try and write small back stories for all my toons in the order they appear. Naturally some of these will be vauge as I may wish to tell these stories later in the comic or Tales from the Institute. I will reveal some of the reasons I did what I did in the case of many of the characters.
Hope I don't bore you all. I will probably cut and paste these to the new web site once I figure out what is happening there.

Wheels Ironkeel is the main Character if Magical Misfits can be said to have a main character. He is the Dwarf headmaster of the Wizards Councils Insitute for Magical Studies. He takes the job shortly after a terrible civil war on Terra. It is implied in the story that he was pushed into taking the job by the council and his wife Hildegard. Wheels brings his younger brother Boat into the operation and as time goes on his freinds. We discover later in the story the Wheels is himself a Grand Wizard of technology a rank that he has kept very quite about. Unfortunatly this slowly becomes common knowledge throughout the story or as Baby said "The worst kept secret on Terra" We also discover that Wheels owns the Institute which brings into question how hard he really needed to be pushed to start the organisation. Wheels it seems is the force that keeps Terra into exploding once more into civil war. Wheels is one smart Dwarf.
When Wheels was very young he was goaded into a duel with a High Elf. The Elf didn't fight honorably and Wheels lost his right arm. Boat rescued his brother but wasn't in time to save him from his grave injury. Wheels father anchor was dismayed at Wheels loss and decided that he could never be a one armed blacksmith so he dropped Wheels as his apprentice leaving only Boat to learn the smithing arts. Anchor got Wheels an apprenticeship with an unknown engineer named Olaf Hardbottom. Turns out Olaf was the rider of Granny the space dragon. Wheels spent many years after that in space. During that time he pined for a young dwarf named Hildegard Longeye. He eventually won Hildegards heart and they were married. They had a Daughter named Binical and then twins named Bollard and Jib Sail. They also found and adopted a baby wood Elf that they adopted and named Star. The civil war was difficult on the Dwarf Family Anchor Ironkeel disappeared without a trace. Boat ran away and joined a Paladin order. The family was rarely together and then Bollard along with a team of adventurers also disapeared. Jib Sail ran away angry at Wheels. Star was wrongly thought to have been killed by a High Elf conscription party. She was later found alive. Wheels and Hidegard along with most dwarfs change sides in the war. The shift of power caused the way to end in a bloody draw. Wheels disgusted with the carnage dedicated himself to preventing another civil war. During the last years of the war Wheels sent his Mother Sandy and Aunt Tiller into space to investigate an emerging power called the Federation. They return many years later. So there is a synopsis of Wheels.

Boat Ironkeel is a dwarf Blacksmith of some considerable skill. A retired Paladin Boat joined his brother in establishing the Institute. Boat is a simpler dwarf than Wheels. His only ambitions were to be a better Blacksmith and be reinstated as a Paladin. That changed when he met the rogue Rixxi who was instantly intrigued by the retired Paladin and decided she was going to win his heart. Which she did! Boat became the Goddesses champion and is content with life as he awaits his wedding day.
Boat and Wheels his older brother were apprentice Blacksmiths to their father Anchor Ironkeel, Wheels got drawn into an ill advised duel with a high elf who underhandedly severed Wheels' arm. Boat blamed himself for not getting to his brother sooner and finally decides to run away and become a Paladin. The order Boat found himself in was largely a High Elf operation and the elves tended to use their non elf brothers ans cannon fodder. Despite this Boat thrived and did great things. The Paladins of the order could not find a mission that would kill Boat Ironkeel so they simply retired him without explanation. What they didn't expect was that Boat retained his Paladin powers. Later the orders founder expelled all it's members and inducted Jib Sail Boat's Niece as it's first new member. Boat is not the scholar his older brother. His plans are usually kick in the door and then kick their asses but he is loyal and true and tells a mean story!

Hildegard Ironkeel Is a Dwarf Hunter, Sniper and Leather worker. She is also the cheif pilot of Ironkeel Marine and the Captain of the Starship Starworth. Married to the Grand Wizard Wheels Ironkeel she is the Dean of Students at the Institute of Magic. She is the steady hand on the helm of the Ironkeel world. She is wise and clever she helps Wheels in all things.
Born Hildegard Long Eye Hildegard met and liked the one armed Ironkeel Boy Wheels. She wasn't paticularlly interested in him. He had pulled a hairbrained move that had cost him his right arm. After Wheels returned from his apprenticship he built an airship which he promptly taught Hildegard how to fly. Hildegard was hooked on flying and she gave Wheels a second look. So started a romance that would inspire songs and would last for thousand of years. Anyone who thinks Wheels is in charge has not met Hildegard!

Daisy is a grizzly bear. She is Hildegards pet, familiar and freind. Not often seen but never far awy she has been protecting Hildegard for years. She didn't like Wheels at first but now she has changed her opinion and tollerates him. Her best freind is Otto Wheels' Hell hound familiar. In the early days when Hildegard was sniping from a hide Daisy would protect her read from any flanking manuevers.

Gogo is a Halfling Mage. She has been freinds with the Ironkeels since she was a youngster. She recently achieved the rank of Wizard with the help of her old friend Wheels Ironkeel when he liberated the Halfling staff of power from a magic vampire and turned it over to her. She has established an orb room at the Institute with which she watches over Terra. She has a sometimes boy friend Wander who is having trouble coming to grips with a monogomos relationship. She is a charter member of the new Wizards Council along with Lord Oppenheimer and Lord Ironkeel.

Cookie is a Goblin Chef. Cookie is one of the few staff members at the Institute that Wheels did not know personally before he hired her. She is a Chef of great renown and Wheels actively perused her for his staff.
During the wars cookie was able to keep army's of Goblins and Orcs fed on few supplies. At one point she single handedly defended her kitchen from attack. It was here that she lost her eye and a tusk. Even so dinner was on time. There is a legend that an army of elves surrendered to the Goblins when they smelled the dinner being prepared on the other side with the condition that Cookie would feed them too. The story is true.

Sally is a sea serpent. Wheels Ironkeel induced her to join the security staff for the "Lower Campus" and port by promising she can take classes. Sally is a little slow but she enjoys the challenge and is well thought of by her friends the Mer-people.

Captain Salt Breath One of Ironkeel Marines oldest employees Captain Salt Breath is a captain of some renown. He is also an old freind of Tiller Ironkeel Wheels and Boats maiden aunt.

Moonlore is a Night Elf. these elves are rare and considered the most beautiful of all the elven people. She is also an accomplished Druid with many animal forms to her credit. Her favorite is a giant snow cat. Wheels wanted her to take the department chair for the Druical Science department but she declined. She is intensely shy but she did recommend her friend Porsche to the job. Moonlore's background is investigative. In short she is a cop! She took the head of security job. It has had the effect of overcoming much of her natural shyness.

Baby is the institutes Healer and head of the healer department. Baby is one of the mysterious Krieg family and she has struck fear into the hearts of her foes and her patients. Having lived most of the war outside the law with her sister Chill. The ladies were brought back into the mainstream by Wheels Ironkeel. Baby has just recently graduated her apprentice Dark Eyes McAndrew and is seeking another. One perhaps not so prone to teleport sickness.

Dozeris an orc. Dozer is not his real name but no non orc can pronounce it hence Dozer. Dozer is the institute's weapons master and he assists Moonlore as the Master at Arms. Dozer was the Orc that wheels approached when the dwarfs decided to change sides during the civil war. Wheels abd Boat became great friends of the Orc NCO. All students at the institute must do some times learning the manual of arms under Dozer's critical eye.

lovely work, tho I must admit, your grammar stinks, I found myself mentally putting in commas and all the other things. you spelling could use some improvement too, might I suggest the browser firefox, which has a built in spell checker, available by right clicking on the red underlined word?

Sharp Beak is another old ally of Wheels. One of the giant eagles of Legend Sharp Beak spent the war as Wheels scout. During and incident with the techno dwarves Sharp Beak leveled and became a Roc. Sharp beak continues in his Institutes duties as the head of aviation studies in spite of his enormous size thanks to a small avatar robot that Wheels made for him. The site of this giant bird sitting atop the dormant valcano of the insitute is an awe inspireing sight and has enhanced the prestige of the institute!

Wander is a healer and not really a staff member at either the Institute or Ironkeel marine, but he is always there. Along with his body Guard/friend Narcan he has wandered Terra in search of adventure and romance. So much romance that he is wanted by several powers across the world to say nothing of restaining orders and orders of protection. His trouble began on his first visit to the institue when he was hired to escort young prince Nor to the school. Wander met Gogo. They are in the midst of the weirdest love affair in Terran history. Fire and Ice balls punctuate thier affair. To add to Wander's commitment problems is the fact that Wheels has recently discovered that Wander is a wizard class Healer. Wander is now reluctantly a member of the wizard council. A job he dreads more than Gogo. Wander has been freinds with Wheels and Boat for ever and was the healer at Wheels or Boats side throughout the wars. Dark Eyes has unkowingly brought Wander a boatload of trouble.

Narcan a lizard man is Wanders constant companion and friend. He has kept Wander out of harms way for an age. Little is known about Narcan other than he is Wander's friend he may be mute no one has heard him utter a word but he is capable of rather impressive roars. Somehow Wander knows what his friend is trying to communicate. Narcan tries to act as Wander conscience, an unenviable task. Narcan is unnaturally strong but is gentle to everyone uless they mean Wander harm.
