Mantooth Soundsystem +1

Postby J-gonk » Wed Aug 05, 2009 7:32 pm

Hey everybody, my name is Johnny Gonken and I write/illustrate the webcomic, Mantooth Soundsystem. Mantooth Soundsystem has accepted your invitation and will be bringing along his roomate, Peter Panda for the festivities.

Mantooth is an "evil" robot DJ who hates human DJs that create/spin/perform electronic music because he feels that electronic music's purity is destroyed by the human touch.

Peter Panda is kind of a loud mouthed stoner/slacker who's into conspiracy theories and lacks ambition.

You can find examples of what these characters look like in any one of my webcomic updates, as they are the main characters of the web comic.

Thanks for letting my guys participate in this event.

P.S. Maybe Mantooth could be hired as the DJ for the party at the castle? What do you all think?[/url]

Hmm... the castle could use a good DJ if this turns out to become the intended party :P

Welcome to the Caper to Mantooth Soundsystem and you J! :

So this is my plan for the Halloween Caper...
I'm going to have Peter start murdering people at the party (if you have a web comic and wans one of your character's offed in this scenario let me know, otherwise I was just going to kill background people) and Mantooth dressed as Batman is going to launch his own investigation of the murders (overacting the whole detective aspect of Batman). Through investigating the murders, Batmantooth will uncover a connection between the mask that Peter is wearing and an ancestor of Alfred Doletti.... Thomas Doletti, who was the "black sheep" of the Doletti Family. He was a murderer and practitioner of the dark arts who managed to attach his soul to the skeleton mask, which then became lost over the years. Peter found the mask in a pawn shop and thought it just a simple Jack Skellington mask and has had it for a couple years, but found nothing out of the ordinary about it until now. Once within the vicinity of Castle Overlook the black magic embedded in this mask has reached it's strong point, allowing the spirit of Thomas Doletti to posses the wearer of the mask and enact his plan to return to the realm of the living using human sacrifice...
What do you think? So is everybody cool with this, if I have this going on at the castle? if anybody wants to help Batmantooth out in his investigation or if you're planning on having the events of my story go on in the background of your own, let me know. I'm going to have to increase my updates for the next two weeks to fit the story in by Halloween.
I'm really enjoying everybody's web comics involved in this caper and look forward to reading more.
Thanks guys.

Ooooh. Does sound fun. A murder mystery with the cape crusader heading the investigation. Just finished reading through the Mantooth archives and if you want Cedrick to help out or at the very least I could cameo either or both Peter and Mantooth, will help out.

Yeah, feel free to cameo both of them. The next strip I post will be before the killings start happening, I'll have the guys pass Cedrick in the hall on their way to the ballroom where Mantooth will be spinning for the party. The killings will start happening in the following strip and (Bat)Mantooth will start investigating.. and then run into Cedrick again and if he's offering his help- have him come along.
How's that sound so far? Thanks for writing- I think this will be a lot of fun.

Cedrick is in my latest update and he'll be in alot more as the investigation progresses... tonight I post the update where bodies start turning up and Mantooth launches his investigation.... do we have reference pics on Alfred yet?

Either today or tomorrow I am going to update with them in the library and talking with the host. Plan on Alfred bringing Thomas up. Will PM this just in case.

i REALLY loved the cameo, cant wait to do my part of it. btw, is mantooth made of cylinders (which seem to be the case, based upon the comic's angles) or boxes? I need to know so i can spruce up a 3d version of him while at the hospital with my Dad. I have my 3d modeling prog on my laptop, the one I actually make models with, not the comic.

Haha thank you. Hopefully I did Alex justice.
Mantooth is in fact boxes... I draw him like that for the side view for cartoonish purposes, but if he were to be a 3D model, you would not see eyes or a mouth on the side of his head. Can't wait to see a rendering of Mantooth...
Hope all is well.

well, I made him a cylinder, and will note that he is actually a box but it that for it to work well in 3d to have all sides needed visible that I took liberties with him. I have him pretty much done, just need to make his costume, symmetry him and rig him in to test for problems and stuff.

And for your style you did great, only gtipe is the pant leg ends, they come together at the ankles but that's minor nitpicking
